MOHAWK RIVER TRIP April 6th, 2020
Our first trip this season took us to the town of Florida in Montgomery County, to the Mohawk River's edge. Since the locks aren't opened yet it was easy to find a trail down to the riverbank and access many of the treasures hidden by the river later in the year.
On this trip we were able to find many garnet laden specimens, quartz and granites as well as a random selection of fossils, including crinoid stems, brachiopods and gastropods.
This trip is very kid friendly and budget friendly. Remember to bring your buckets to carry your treasures back with you.
